On Saturday, October 22, 2011, our first " Race to a Million " 5K run and 2K walk to benefit the  Cleveland Foodbank  was a smash success in moving us further toward that goal!

We at Human Arc want to thank all those who participated as Race to a Million runners, walkers and generous contributors.  The cause certainly is among the worthiest anyone could wish to support!

  • Registration fees, donations and matching pledges exceeded $15,000 for the Cleveland Foodbank!

  • This will finance approximately 66,000 meals for Northeast Ohio's hungry and food challenged as we approach the winter season!

2011 "Backpack Drive" Surpasses 2010 Drive by 60%!

Alicia Book BagsAugust 25, 2011: For all five year since 2007, Human Arc Marketing Coordinator Alicia Burton has managed a selfless, time consuming summer drive among our associates to supply back-to-school backpacks and necessary school supplies to economically challenged, inner city children who otherwise would start back to elementary school with not even a pencil.  In 2010, Alicia and about 70 other Human Arc employees equipped about 870 children with supplies they needed to begin fall classes at Case Elementary and like inner city schools.

The big news is that Human Arc’s just-completed 2011 Back-to-school Backpack Drive will positively impact the lives of over 1,400 inner city children60% beyond last year’s record number!  This year’s phenomenal success includes school supplies for 375 Case Elementary School kids, plus supplies for hundreds more needy children in the cities of Cleveland, Garfield Heights, Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, Bedford, Bedford Heights, Warrensville, etc.  In addition, the drive is providing over 500 large bottles of hand sanitizer, enough for every classroom at Marion-Sterling Elementary School and over 80 sets of new underwear for the use of kindergarten classes at A. J. Rickoff Elementary School!

The 2011 success pushes the total number of school-age children impacted in five years by the Human Arc Back-to-school Backpack Drive to 3,300, a remarkable achievement and one for which we owe a big debt of thanks to Alicia and all the other 70+ Human Arc associates and families who contributed with money and/or backpacks and supplies.

“Human Arc is all about experience, compassion and results," stated Alicia as she and her corps of helping Human arc associates counted backpacks and readied them for distribution. “The annual Human Arc Backpack Drive aims to better equip children to learn and grow.  It's a great way to use our experience and our compassion to produce results that really do bring quality-of-life improvement to our communities.  I'm just so grateful for the efforts of the many of our associates who have stepped forward to make this year's drive so successful.”

Hats off once again to Alicia and all the Human Arc associates who contributed their time, dollars and sweat to make the 2011 Back-to-school Backpack Drive a great success.

Human Arc Makes Strides for the American Cancer Society!

Making Strides Against Breast CancerMay 22, 2010:  It started as an idea to allow associates to cross departmental lines and share together the experience of volunteering at a single event!  It ended with more than 40 Human Arc associates and their friends and families participating in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk in downtown Cleveland on May 15th, 2010 (the event attracted over 3,700 participants from all over northeast Ohio).

Human Arc’s participation in the event was organized by the trio of Heather Ciriaco, Elizabeth McCullough and Andrea Owsiak.  The event gave participating associates the opportunity to volunteer their time at the registration tables along the route or participate in the walk.  Many chose to both volunteer and participate in the walk.  In the end, participating associates were able to raise over $1,100 for the American Cancer Society and contribute over 100 man hours of their time to a genuinely worthwhile cause.  Our associates look forward to participating at the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk in 2011!

Hats off to these three organizers and all of our associates and their friends and family members who chose to make a real difference on May 15th!
