Human Arc Community Service and Outreach

CommunityOutreachSince Human Arc's inception in 1984, community involvement and social responsibility are integral to our business success and fundamental to our thinking about our markets, our clients and the people they serve.

This commitment to the community is part of Human Arc's core values:
"We make a difference by loving and caring for people and communities."

Since 1997, Human Arc associates have contributed 4,500 paid work hours to community organizations, in addition to many hours of their own time.

Additionally, as one of its five major strategic goals, Human Arc works hard to be "admired in the marketplace for our social responsibility."

For its leadership in community involvement, Human Arc has been named the recipient of the prestigious Pillar Award for Community Service.

...offer the opportunity to develop as individuals and associates through involvement in the community.

...encourage opportunities for associates to join together and collectively achieve a positive impact on the community and the populations served through our business.

...recognize and respect associates' unique skills, talents, and passions by promoting and supporting individual contributions to the community, both volunteer and financial.

Human Arc Cleveland School Book Bag Drive a Roaring Success!

Alicia Book BagsJuly 26, 2007:  Conceived, organized and managed over several months by Human Arc Marketing’s own Alicia Burton, the Human Arc School Book Bag Drive aimed to provide school-age children living in Cleveland area Salvation Army shelters a fully packed book bag when they return to school in August – September (tragically, over 1,400 children in greater Cleveland return to school each year with no supplies whatsoever… not even a pencil).

Originally hoping to gather 100 book bags from Human Arc associates and friends of Alicia’s Progeny5129 community ministry, her outreach, as of July 24th, resulted in well over 200 fully-packed book bags, complete with notebooks, paper, tissues, report folders, pencil boxes, scissors, glue, etc.  That’s over 200% of goal!

Equally impressive, at least 65 Human Arc associates (over 25% of Cleveland employees!) contributed book bags or money toward the worthy goal; 40 associates contributed multiple bags.

“I just want to thank all the wonderful, generous people who participated in this drive,” said Alicia.  “It shows the tremendous compassion and caring that we at Human Arc can have as individuals and as a group.  This means each of us will make a very real and positive difference in lives of hundreds of disadvantaged children in our city.”  She added, “Special thanks go to Heather Bowers and Jeff Markle who both helped make the drive a great success.”

Congratulations to Alicia and all the Human Arc associates who helped make this difference!

Kansas City's Cindy Johnston Hops for Community Outreach

April 1, 2007: Here's a clipping from the Kansas City Star taken at a community Easter egg hunt in that city's Powell Gardens.  The photo shows none other than our own Kansas City Office Manager, Cindy Johnston, dressed as the Easter Bunny and playing pat-a-cake with a little girl!  In her role as the famed cottontail, Cindy was asked if she was a boy or girl, where she lived and where she hid the eggs.  All she could do was shrug her shoulders, since the Easter Bunny, characteristic of most hares, cannot speak a word of English.  However, Cindy Bunny was able to point outside to show that is where the Easter Eggs were hidden.

The Easter Bunny played pat-a-cake, colored pictures with the kids, posed with them for pictures, and had them hop along side her to learn the "Easter Bunny Hop."  When Cindy walked through in the brunch area where all the kids were eating, it caused such chaos that it was decided the Bunny should stay at the door.  One little girl was so excited that she accidentally flipped her tray full of food into the air with eggs, bacon and juice flying everywhere, and one baby evidently thought Cindy was a Bunny Monster and starting screaming.  From that point, Cindy Cottontail waited at the door and waved to the kids; they then could come to her for hugs and pictures.

Way to go, Cindy!  You definitely have hopped into the Human Arc Community Outreach Hall of Fame!
